Prof. I.J. Schechter: Initiation of speech for expressing personal ideas instead of reproducing memorized phrases or constructing according to speech patterns - that is the main difference between the sence-emotive method of teaching foreign languages and all other approaches.

The St.Petersburg-based Centre for Sense-Emotive Methods of Education  provides teaching the English and German languages, as well as the Russian language for foreigners, with the use of the unique sense-emotive method introduced by Professor Igor Shekhter. Being extremely effective, the method is very pleasant and not exhausting in spite of intensive presentation of the material - up to 120 new words and expressions can be introduced during one class. A full three-months course allows everyone to have a good command of a foreign language.

The whole language course consists of three one-month periods (cycles) by 100 hours each with advisable intervals of from one to four months between them.

The first education period allows those learning to get rid of the dread of speaking a foreign language and to obtain the necessary communication skills. The vocabulary studied concerns the life of a modern city resident. The classes last for 3 hours every day but the learners do not become tired, on the contrary, a high emotional enthusiasm is normally observed. Every learner begins to speak fluently enough by the end of the first period.

The second period will allow a learner to improve language skills and to be able to formulate his or her ideas and opinions and to take part in negotiations without an interpreter. Many business and political terms are introduced. The educational process consists of business games, such as conferences, brain storming sessions, editorial sittings, round table discussions as well as grammar studies and clubs of interpreters.

The third period includes philosophical conversations, discussions on special topics like art, theatre, space research, medicine aimed to develop the ability to persist in one's opinion. The result is a sufficient command of the language.

The method is based on modern psychological research. You always find youselves in the conditions of emotional and psychological comfort. While learning you relax.

The method is very much appreciated by scientists, students, businessmen, engineers and other specialists. If you want to learn the language quickly and effectively, you cannot find a better way.

If you want to study the Russian language, you are welcome to St. Petersburg to the Centre for Sense-Emotive Methods of Education  where you can study Russian according to an intensive conversational method introduced by professor I. Shekhter.

The classes take place at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Culture.

We can offer two training schedules:

1. Four weeks course, a classical variant without extra hours of studies. It includes everyday classes by four academic hours each from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. except Sundays.

2. A more intensive course during two weeks, which is less advisable as it makes it more difficult to learn the material well.

It includes two classes by four academic hours each per day except Sundays:

-the 1^st lesson from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m.

-the 2^nd lesson from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m.

Additional grammar classes are provided for beginners – 24 academic hours.

The tuition fee is $5 per one academic hour.

For the first course of studies (100 academic hours) - $500.

The fee for additional classes is the same ($5 per academic hour).

We can also provide the students with accommodation in a flat-like hotel or in local families at reasonable prices.

1. The hotel provides two-roomed flats with kitchen and bathroom. The kitchens are completed with electric stoves and refrigerators. The TV set is available in a hall. One room is for 1 or 2 persons.

The accommodation rates: by 2 persons in a room - $12 per day,  by 1 person in a room - $24 per day

Two meals a day (breakfast and supper) can be organized at the hotel cafeteria. It may cost approximately $10-$12 per day.

The students can be taken from the hotel to the Educational Centre and back by a special bus.

2. Accommodation in families can be provided by 1 or 2 persons in a family in a separate room with two meals per day (breakfast and supper).

The price for accommodation and meals is $25 per day.

Students living in families will have to use public transport to get to the Educational Centre as accommodation in one district cannot be organized.

Cultural programme can be organized according to the wish of the group.
